Meet the Drapers Season 4, Episode 1: Revolutionizing the housing, construction, and security industries
Meet the Drapers, hosted by Tim Draper, is a ground-breaking reality show where 3 startups pitch their idea every week to the judges and you — the viewers! The startups fight for a shot at securing investments by presenting their company and answering the judges’ questions. Tim Draper, together with his father, Bill Draper, a venture capital pioneer, and his sister Polly Draper, actor, director, and producer, will select the startups that will advance to the finale. Not only that, YOU — the viewers, can invest in these startups via crowdfunding and get a chance to own a piece of the next unicorn. How amazing is that! In addition, the three startups that are the most funded by You — the viewers, will also advance to the finale along with the startups selected by the judges!
The last year has been challenging for all of us. While Tim and others at the show were able to conduct virtual meetings with entrepreneurs from various locations, they missed their energy and persona on the sets. On the other hand, it’s a real positive that they could meet entrepreneurs from different parts of the world, and the entrepreneurs did not have to travel to Silicon Valley to meet the Drapers. The show has started with its 4th season and has reached a combined viewership of over 9 million! Congratulations to you all for making this show what it is.
The world has changed, and people have adapted, especially entrepreneurs. When people are stuck in one place for a long time, they try new things. Over the past year, many people bought bitcoin wallets, used remote healthcare, and accessed education remotely. Speaking of healthcare, Miray Tayfun, Co-Founder and CEO, Vivoo, has joined for the first episode as the guest judge. Miray is the winner of season 3 of Meet the Drapers, and her company Vivoo uses healthcare data to provide at-home urine test kits. Introducing the guest judge and the startups, Tim Draper said, “Entrepreneurs are heroes. They take long odds and achieve extraordinary outcomes. These heroes will bring us all out of the pandemic into a new world.”
Our first hero is Galiano Tiramani, who, with his company Boxabl, aims to revolutionize the affordable housing market. We build products in an assembly line style and have been doing so for the past century now. So, why do we still build houses manually costing time, money, and labor? Galiano found his answers when a friend designed a modular container for a shipping company. The problem with designing modular houses is their large size, which can be extremely expensive to ship. Boxabl solves this problem by making a foldable, durable, assembly-line production of houses that can fit onto a regular shipping carrier and can be shipped anywhere in the world. With such an innovative concept, it’s no wonder that Boxabl has $1 Billion of pre-orders! Check out their crowdfunding campaign — https://wefunder.com/boxabl
Our next hero is Rob Salvador, Co-Founder, and CEO of Digibuild, a blockchain company for the construction world. Digibuild is enterprise software for managing construction projects with tools enabled by blockchain. With blockchain, the company claims its solutions to be ten times more effective than the leading software solutions in the market! If you’re not impressed yet, the team at Digibuild has collectively managed over $5 Billion in construction jobs! They do have a deep knowledge bench there. Using blockchain, the company offers a simple SaaS solution for the construction industry. The solution provides higher transparency for risk management and captures robust data analytics for accurate decision-making. With more and more industries moving towards blockchain, Digibuild is the one to watch.Check out their crowdfunding campaign — https://republic.co/digibuild
Our third hero for this week’s episode is Uday Kiran Chaka, Founder, and CEO, of Sentry AI. An interesting approach to security, Sentry AI is a B2B SaaS company that provides virtual Sentries through AI. What happens when thousands of security cameras collect millions of terabytes in security footage to be watched by none? The effectiveness of the technology is lost. Sentry AI aims to solve this through their software that eliminates the need to monitor 90% of the security footage. Using AI-powered video analytics, the company improves accuracy to prevent crime through products like intrusion detection and proactive person monitoring. This is a company that can witness a lot of success in a post-pandemic world as its easy-to-configure API model can work with existing security systems. While all three companies have a unique proposition for their target industries, the entrepreneur that answers all the questions clearly and effectively communicates that proposition will be the winner. Whether they win or not, they all are already heroes. If you’re interested to know who we voted as the winner, log on to https://www.meetthedrapers.com/, and we will be back here with the next episode. Take care.
