How to Stay Inspired When Working From Home

For entrepreneurs everywhere, the words ‘discomfort’ and ‘unpredictability’ are ubiquitous. Facing challenges and finding creative solutions is the core of entrepreneurship, which is what makes us so resilient.

During one of the most uncertain periods in history, entrepreneurs have proven their ability to remain innovative during a time of crisis, all while working and networking at home. As we embrace our fourth month of the pandemic, finding new ways to cultivate ideas and strategies may start to feel a little overwhelming and unmotivating. Lucky for you, we have four tips to keep you inspired when working from home.

Create a Routine (and stick to it!) Whether you love or deeply despise routines, maintaining structure throughout your day can help kickstart your motivation. According to Dr. Rachel Goldman, a psychologist and clinical assistant professor at the NYU School of Medicine, “when people don’t have a routine or structure to their day it can cause increased stress and anxiety, as well as overwhelming feelings, lack of concentration, and focus.” By setting a schedule for yourself, you can lower your stress levels, feel more productive, and keep focused on your task — laying the foundation for a success mindset. If you already have a routine and are still feeling unmotivated, switch up your routine. Find what works for you and stay consistent.

Prioritize Your Health Your health is your wealth. It’s easy to not implement health and wellness in your daily routine, however eating a healthy diet and moving your body daily can keep you inspired. Eating foods like beets, berries, lean proteins, and walnuts are proven to improve one’s concentration, focus, memory, and sharpness. Moving your body daily releases endorphins, which can help elevate your mood, give you ample energy, and release stress you’ve built up. Additionally, exercising can boost creativity. A Stanford University study showed that simply going for a walk can ‘boost creative ideation in real time and shortly after.’ Another study suggested that moving your body can help with mental blocks and lack of inspiration. Putting your health first doesn’t have to be perfect, the key is to start and eventually, implement it into your routine.

Expand Your Network (virtually, ofcourse.) You’ve kept up with all your current networks using virtual conference rooms, but you want to expand your networks during the middle of a global pandemic. Free virtual conferences are the way to go! You’ll be able to expand your network by e-meeting entrepreneurs, investors, and companies you’ve never met before.
